Valiant Violets during Block Pushing

The four members of the Valiant Violets, Lantana, Madeira, Salvia and Vivid, are botanists from the city of Viola del Marb. They met in 2012 at the Marblearth Athletics Convention where they were hoping to study new plants that could make a difference in medicine and recovery. They ended up running an individual panel together and saw each other's presentations. They got along well and exchanged contact information. The four marbles got together often for experiments and research.

In 2015 the four were invited to work as stunt aids in the movie The Foresters Awaken. Vivid and Salvia had previously worked as stunt doubles in the past due to their knowledge of athletic safety. While doing this job, they had worked with Dory, a future member of the Bluefastics, with the three remaining in intermittent contact afterwards. They reunited on the set of The Foresters Awaken. Lantana, the best of the four at writing papers, helped to write the script alongside Gonzo, another member of the Bluefastics. During the production, the two teams became good friends, regularly hanging out to watch their favorite movies.

After production ended, the four marbles returned to their lives as scientists, now with a new-found love for competing in marble sports. The four signed up to compete in a local competition, the Viola Cup. The team were an immediate success, winning two golds, four silvers and a bronze medal, winning the tournament. They told local media that they intended to remain scientists first and athletes second. This sentiment changed when they were contacted by Jelle Bakker who asked them to compete in Hubelino Tournament 2016 after their impressive performance. The team were originally skeptical, not wanting to stop being scientists. However, they eventually accepted after finding out the Bluefastics would also be competing. A news segment called them the "Valiant Violets" and the name stuck.[1]

Hubelino Tournament 2016[]

The team trained away from the media, trying to stay undercover for a as long as they could, continuing to work on the scientific studies. During this period they adopted the pseudonyms they are known by today. They had no desire to mix up their scientific work with their athletics. Before the start of the tournament, the team found out that two of their members had won a Marbel Prize for their scientific work, but this meant they could not compete in the upcoming tournament. The two winners encouraged the rest of the team to still compete, finding replacements in the form of Rezzy and Rizzy, future members of the Raspberry Racers. To keep up the anonymity, the two agreed to compete under the pseudonyms of the prize winners.

It didn't take long for the Violets to realize they were underprepared for Hubelino Tournament 2016. Competing in a new city with a different climate and the last minute change in team meant led to a poor start to the competition. The tournament opened with a fourth in Funnel Spinning, but their confidence was shattered when they followed this up with a last place in the Catwalk, dropping to sixth overall. A string of mid to lower table finishes followed in the next five events dropping them to last place overall. A DNF in the final event before the break, Combination, kept them in last place overall.

After watching Marble League 2017, the tournament returned and the Violets had another last place finish in Event 9, Halfpipe Dash, putting them 12 points behind seventh place. Despite this, the team still had hope. The next event, the Relay Course, saw the team beat the Golden Wisps in the first round followed by a win by six-hundredths of a second over the Bluefastics in the semifinals. A nail-biting final against Team Phoenix saw the Valiant Violets win their first medal, a gold. Unfortunately, this was not enough to lift them out of last place. They then followed this up with another last place in the Block Push, ending their chance of finishing on the podium. The team finished on a high point, earning a silver medal in the final event, Ball Battle, but this was not enough to stop the Violets finishing Hubelino Tournament 2016 in last place overall.

After the tournament, Rezzy and Rizzy left the team and the prize winners returned. They also gained Vivia as a reserve member. During this time, Jelle asked the team to take part in the Marble League 2018 Qualifiers but they declined after only just getting the team back together, preferring to focus on improving the team. The Violets returned to their research during the offseason.[1]

Hubelino Tournament 2018[]

The Valiant Violets were overjoyed to be invited back to compete in Hubelino Tournament 2018, hoping to prove themselves after their poor finish in the previous season. Unfortunately, they opened the tournament with two bottom three finishes in the Swing Wave and the Catwalk dropping them once more to last place overall. Hope returned as a bronze medal in the Funnel Race took them out of last into sixth overall. Unfortunately, the Violets finished in the bottom four in the next four events, dropping the team to seventh. A final bronze medal in the last event, the Big Tower, kept them in seventh overall at the end of the tournament.[1]

Post-Hubelino Tournament[]

The Valiant Violets were hopeful they could put together stronger performances in the future, but their hopes were derailed after the announcement of the cancellation of the Hubelino Tournament. Without a competition, the team considered trying to qualify for the Marble League but decided against it.

The team stayed out of marble sports until 2020 when they were invited to compete in the Herbotamia Reunion alongside the other former Hubelino teams. The competition was played behind closed doors and all attendees signed an NDA so the results are unknown. The teams return in the competition sparked rumors that the team would be returning full-time, but the team quickly ended those rumors, saying they competed to have fun with friends.

The team made a second return after the Minty Maniacs invited them to compete in the Herbotamia Invitational. The team were originally hesitant to accept, worried this would signal an intention to properly return, but after the invite mentioned fans were curious to see how they would do in an official tournament, they decided to accept. The team had a poor start, failing to earn any points until the third event. A shock victory over Team Plasma in Collision led to progression to the semifinals. They lost to the Gliding Glaciers in the next round but won bronze after beating the Solar Flares in the third place match. In the final event, Salvia was bumped off the banking in the Minty Mania Grand Prix, leading to another scoreless finish. The team ended the Invitational in seventh overall. Despite another poor performance, the team were proud of themselves, happy they had had an opportunity to test themselves.

After this appearance, they decided to officially retire from marble sports. They ended up creating a sustainable sports drink, Vial of Violet, which multiple major teams used.[1]
