The Surculo is a marble sports competition hosted in the city of Numerun and is the most popular marble sports competition south of Marblopolis. It consists of an Elite League and a lower league[1], as well as an individual league.[2]
In 2010, the Surculo hosted an exhibition race down Colina Umerun to raise money for the preservation of Numerun Antigua, inviting members of other sports leagues to compete. This was won by the Jungle Jumpers with the Jawbreakers finishing in fourth.
With the announcement of Marble League 2016, an invitation was offered to the top three teams of the 2015 Surculo - the Jawbreakers, the Rojo Rollers, and the Quicksilvers. The Jawbreakers and Rojo Rollers accepted. However, the Quicksilvers declined the invitation so they could have another go at winning the Surculo, and so did the fourth-placed Jungle Jumpers. The Chocolatiers, who finished fifth, became the third Surculo team that accepted the invitation.[1]
In the following year, the Jungle Jumpers went on to win the Surculo, despite missing out on the first event. Their second half of the season was marked by an unprecedented streak of podium finishes, which helped them beat the Quicksilvers for the title. Both the Jungle Jumpers and the Quicksilvers ended up receiving an invitation to participate in Marble League 2017, which they accepted.[3]
After the 2018 edition of the tournament, the Surculo reorganized, holding tryouts for 2019.[4] The 2019 edition was hosted in Mercazogue by the Quicksilvers.[5] The MarBeats played at the Silverdrome, the home stadium of the Quicksilvers, on the eve of the final event of the 2019 Surculo, the Silver Surculo GP.[6]
After not being invited to Marbula One Season 2, the Rojo Rollers returned to the 2020 Surculo for practice, going on to win the league.[1] Sugar of the Jawbreakers returned to the Surculo as a commentator after the retirement of the team. Candy tried to recruit members to the Jawbreakers from the Surculo after the other members retired but was unsuccessful.[2]
