The Season 1 Midnight Bay Grand Prix was the eighth and final race of Marbula One Season 1, held on 4 - 5 April 2020.
Qualifying[]
Summary[]
The final qualifying session of the season began with Hive of the Hornets having a run. They start the session off with a qualifying lap of 25.93s. Rezzy of the Raspberry Racers followed that up with a qualifying lap of 25.40sas they hope to end the season on high. Meanwhile, Sublime of the Limers had a poor attempt as they completed a qualifying lap of 26.22s. This saw them start from last place on the grid.
Momo of Team Momo had a breakthrough lap, becoming the first marble to go under the 25-second mark with a qualifying lap of 24.97s. The lap was good enough for them to start in the front row. Wospy of the Midnight Wisps did fairly well for the hosts, setting a qualifying lap of 25.45s which later puts them seventh in the grid.
Controversy occurred in the latter part of the session as Speedy of the Savage Speeders started their qualifying attempt just as Clementin of the O'rangers was still doing theirs. While Clementin completed a qualifying lap of 25.75 seconds, Speedy set a qualifying lap of 24.54s. This puts them in pole position by over half a second. Further investigation by the JMRC concluded that no advantage was gained from this incident, and the times set were allowed to stand.
Hazy of the Hazers came into this Grand Prix with their team leading the teams' championship by 14 points. However, they joined Sublime as the only two marbles to have failed to break through the 26-second mark. This meant they started the race in the back row of the grid.

Trivia[]
- During qualifying, Speedy of the Savage Speeders started their lap before the previous marble, Clementin of the O'rangers, had finished their lap. After reviewing the track and the incident, the JMRC determined there was no cheating or interference by the Savage Speeders, nor was Speedy found to have any unfair advantage by setting off early. Speedy was thus allowed to keep their qualifying lap intact and retain their pole position.[1]
- This incident also marks the first Grand Prix when a flag was waved during a qualifying session.
- With their pole-to-flag victory, Speedy became the first polesitter to win a race, and the only one to do so in the season.
- Speedy then went on to record the second instance of a polesitter winning a race, at the Honeydome in Season 2.
- This was the first Grand Prix to include a bridge and a tunnel.
- It is also the first track to take place in the dark.
