The seventh race of the 2018 Sand Marble Rally was hosted at Klimduin Brechtdorp on the 1st December 2018. 20 marbles participated in the race.

Report

The conditions of the weather were partially cloudy, with the temperature around 10 °C. The sand was slightly wet.

The beginning of the race was a strong start for Superball. Edging out Ducktape in the first few corners, Superball managed an good jumping cut that threw them over a chicane and ahead of other competitors by a significant margin. Black Knight emerged as their rival, overtaking Big Pearl, Ducktape and Crazy Cat's Eye early on to attain 2nd place. Big Pearl followed fast on a straight and retook 2nd from Black Knight before moving on Superball's now almost non-existent lead. However, a slow hairpin turn made them lose out on the opportunity, being overtaken by Black Knight once again.

Meanwhile, Red Number 3's blistering pace allowed them to get to the podium positions and pass Marbly McMarbleface on their way to the top. Quicksilver also managed to get in the top 5, but the main battle of the race was Superball and Black Knight's duel. As they entered into a slalom section, Superball lost the lead to Black Knight.

To pile on the pressure, Superball collided again with Black Knight, this time losing a lot of momentum in the process as Red Number 3 passed them in a tight corner. This squabble let Black Knight increase their lead heavily, with Red Number 3 having to catch up to them. Eventually, Superball was able to retake 2nd from Red Number 3 in a fast corner after the latter lost momentum. They would continue to jostle around. Superball won the battle for 2nd and closed the gap in the championship on Red Number 3, who finished third, as Black Knight retained their first place to achieve their first career win. Nearly 3.5 s behind them, Marbly McMarbleface finished 4th, and Quicksilver rounded out the top 5. The podium finishers wound up as the only marbles eligible to win the season, with Phoenix and Crazy Cat's Eye (who had finished 7th and 10th, respectively) within reach of a top 3 finish.
