The fourth race of the Sand Marble Rally 2018 was held at Klimduin Brechtdorp on the 14th September 2018. 20 marbles participated in the race.

Report

After a strong start by both Blue Moon and Phoenix, the battle for the lead was looking to be a 5-horse race between Phoenix, Crazy Cat's Eye, Blue Moon, Lollipop and Superball. Crazy Cat's Eye was very competitive in the beginning half of the race, jostling with Phoenix for the lead. However, their downfall would come in a disastrous split entry, where they dropped just below the top 5. Meanwhile, Blue Moon and Superball took the lower lane and slingshot past Phoenix for the lead. A short battle for the lead would occur, but Blue Moon would fall to the pressure of Superball's high-speed corner attack. Meanwhile, Red Number 3's trademark surge through the field was present once again, fighting from the back towards the top 5. With the end of the race coming to an end, Red Number 3 would accelerate as hard as they could through the long straight to propel them towards the top of the table, but Superball's consistent performance kept them in front to secure their first taste of victory, despite Red Number 3's efforts. For the first time in Sand Marble Rally history, the Ghost Marble that started the race was seen on the race course. They finished ahead of 5 competitors.
