The tenth race of the 2016 Sand Marble Rally was held at Doornse Gat on the 11th October 2016. 20 marbles participated in the race.

Report

Out of the gate, the racers entered a hard right turn. Summer Sky took an early lead, but was soon passed by The Flash. However, due to some wild movements by The Flash, Summer Sky and Slimer were able to pass them and take first and second, respectively. A bump against the wall for Slimer allowed The Flash to make it back to second place. Slimer's bad luck continued when they bumped against a stick in the track, letting Silver Bolt pass them for third. The gaps between second and third, and third and fourth closed, leaving The Flash, Silver Bolt, and Slimer to fight it out while Summer Sky grew their lead.

As Silver Bolt hit the wall on a turn, Slimer regained third. The racers entered a split, where Summer Sky took the low line, and Silver Bolt and Slimer took the high line. The Flash rolled up onto the divider, where they would be stuck for some time. As the lanes merged, Silver Bolt and Rastafarian were able to overtake Slimer. After the split, the racers came upon a set of diverging paths, of which there were three to take. Summer Sky and Rastafarian took the middle lane, while Silver Bolt and Slimer took the high lane.

When the lanes merged, the positions were drastically changed. Silver Bolt took the lead, followed by Slimer in second. Out of nowhere, Super Turtle grabbed third, and the previous leader, Summer Sky, dropped to fourth. Through a set of slalom turns, Summer Sky was able to pass Super Turtle, and, moments later, Slimer. The racers entered a split, where Silver Bolt and Summer Sky took the high line, while Slimer and Super Turtle took the low line. Summer Sky, who had just been running in second, held too much speed coming into the split, and got beached on the large lane divider. When the lanes merged, Silver Bolt held a large lead, while Slimer and Super Turtle followed in second and third.

As the racers entered a set of wide turns, Tarantula was able to pass Super Turtle for third. A heavy block by Tarantula robbed Super Turtle of all their momentum, causing them to stop completely for a few moments, and holding up a few other racers who ran into them. Meanwhile, the gap between the top three had started to shrink, and as they came onto a bridge, Slimer held enough speed to pass Silver Bolt and take the lead. Soon after, Pollo Loco, who had been running in fifth, had too much speed, and went rolling off the course.

As the racers came onto a jump, Silver Bolt was able to pass Slimer and regain the lead. Silver Bolt held a small lead as they entered a set of helices, where they went too high on the wall of their lane, allowing Slimer to pass them yet again. Meanwhile, El Capitan was able to edge out Tarantula for third position. As the racers came onto the final straight Slimer only grew their lead, and they would not be able to be overtaken.

Slimer, earning their second win of the season, finished moments before Silver Bolt, who had been fighting with Slimer for the lead all race. El Capitan, with a late charge, took the last podium spot. Big Pearl netted another good set of points in fourth, bringing them up to second in the overall standings. Rastafarian, The Flash, and Starman came fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively, all of them having had relatively quiet races. Tarantula, who had been running in third at one point, dropped to eighth the end of the race. Ghost Plasma, the championship leader was able to salvage a ninth place finish, just before Fantasy rounded out the top ten. 3 racers DNF'd this race, who were Wisp of Darkness, Summer Sky, and Pollo Loco.
