The Ruby Rollers are a Hubelino team that are red with white stripes. The Ruby Rollers were introduced in Hubelino Tournament 2016. They also share a name with the ruby roller pigeon.
The Ruby Rollers are indeed an amazing team in the Hubelino Tournaments. They have established new records for:
- the highest number of total points (134);
- the highest number of total medals (11);
- the highest number of total bronze medals (6).
In the light of the first two records, the Ruby Rollers might be referred to as one of the best Hubelino teams ever, in spite of the fact that they have never participated to any Marble League competition.
Team Members[]
Rolla, Rollew, Rollo, and Rolly were the original members of the team before retiring from marble sports after the disbandment of the Hubelino Tournament.

Pre-Hubelino Tournament[]
The four marbles that make up the Ruby Rollers, Rolla, Rollew, Rollo, and Rolly, met while working at the Aviary Topiary, the largest bird zoo on Marblearth located in Hummilon. It is surrounded by one of the largest gardens in the world. The four originally come from around the world: Rollew comes from the suburbs between the Big Marble and Philamarblia, earning a degree from there and working at the city's zoo; Rollo comes from Greshen and met Rollew; Rolly studied ornithology on the Brace Isles; Rolla comes from Bright Hyu City. The four met while bringing birds to the Aviary Topiary. Rollo met Rollew bringing ruby roller pigeons from Cairoll and they talked about pigeons for hours, even missing their trains to Chlorotopia; Rolla became friends with Rolly and Rollo as they were onboarding a flock of ruby-throated hummingbirds. During this time, the four marbles designed a team logo featuring a pigeon, having bonded over birds that have ruby coloring.
In 2011, the Minty Maniacs, Black Jacks and Golden Wisps were traveling to Spiceno to meet Team Phoenix when they stopped in Hummilpn for a day trip to visit the Aviary Topiary. They organized to hold a short friendly relay race in the gardens. Management approved their request when it was confirmed there would be no spectators present. However, the four members of the Ruby Rollers saw the friendly and went to talk to the teams, establishing contact with Minty Fresh.
When the Herbotamia Tournament became official in 2012, the teams looked for an extra team to add to the tournament. The teams called the Aviary Topiary and organised a meeting with the four friends. The teams personally invited them to join Herbotamia Tournament 2012 as the Ruby Rollers, based purely on their friendship rather than sporting abilities, having never seen them compete. The team accepted their invite, knowing they would miss their jobs but reassured that they could always come back to work at the Aviary Topiary later.
The Ruby Rollers competed in the Herbotamia Tournament from 2012-2015, competing as the underdogs. The team came fourth in 2012, rising to third in 2013, and managed to win the tournament in 2015. Fans came out in droves to meet the team as they celebrated their victory, wearing the team's trademark white caps with a red eye and beak outline of a ruby roller pigeon stitched on them. The Rollers were voted most popular team in a poll conducted by the Herbotamia Times in 2016.
in 2016, the Minty Maniacs decided to retire after the Herbotamia Tournament lost funding, encouraging the other teams to seek other opportunities. However, Jelle Bakker offered to step in and sponsor the tournament, become the Hubelino Tournament 2016. The Ruby Rollers had applied to take part in Marble League 2016 but were rejected for being too similar to the Rojo Rollers, so they agreed to take part.[1]
Hubelino Tournament 2016[]
The Ruby Rollers had a bad start to Hubelino Tournament 2016, coming in last place in Event 1, Funnel Spinning. However, they started to turn it around by earning a silver in the next event, the Catwalk, rising to fourth. The Rollers then went on a fantastic spree of results, finishing in the top five for the next eight events, including five more medals: two golds in the Elimination Maze and the Swing Wave, a silver in Pursuit Slalom, and two bronzes in the Combination and the Relay Course.
A key moment came after Event 8, the Combination. The team had won a bronze, tying the Green Gang in points. A tiebreaker was announced, but Pepper Field, the stadium in which the tournament was taking place, was booked through to April. In April, JMR announced they would be cancelling the tiebreaker and booked in four more events, two events before Marble League 2017 and two after. The Rollers had a strong first two events, finishing third and fourth in the first two extra events. At Marble League 2017, the team met up with the Rojo Rollers. The team returned to Chlorotopia to train with a new coach, Rollin. They adopted an alternative training regime, hoping to maintain their good results, although the team felt uneasy about the new strategy. Unfortunately, the final two events did not go as well, finishing sixth and seventh, dropping the team into second at the end of the tournament behind the Green Gang. The team felt quite down after the end of the tournament. Also, despite their international success, more of the focus went to other teams such as the Minty Manics and the Black Jacks.
Jelle invited all of the Hubelino teams to take part in the Marble League 2018 Qualifiers. Coach Rollin brought them the invite but the team fired them, declining the invite and returning to Hummilon. They secured a sponsorship from the Aviary Topiary and began to rent a local gym. They hired a new coach, Ruby, a long time fan from Fantum. They began construction on a training facility and a small arena, The Nest.[1]
Hubelino Tournament 2018[]
Returning to Chlorotopia, the teams started to set up the stadium. The Rollers could only manage sixth in Event 1, the Swing Wave, an event they had won the previous season. They vowed that better results were ahead. Just like the previous season, the Ruby Rollers had a strong run of five events, finishing fourth twice and third three times, winning bronze in the Hubelino Tournament 2018: Event 2 - Catwalk, Hubelino Tournament 2018: Event 4 - Halfpipes and the Hubelino Tournament 2018: Event 6 - Relay Race. Despite their consistency, the team sat in fifth overall, 20 points away from the leaders with only two events to go.
Fans of the Ruby Rollers went to Team Phoenix's blog, the Firebird Sports Diary, to spread rumors that the Ruby Rollers had engineered a practice maze in The Nest to help them train for the final two events. They also claimed they had been seen climbing to the top of the Aviary Topiary with the intent of navigating down as quickly as possible. Both claims were denied by the team, but were good for publicity. The final two events went similarly to the rest of the season. The team earned another bronze in the Maze before earning a final silver in the Big Tower after a collision with the Bumblebees. Despite medaling in more than half of the events, the Rollers finished the tournament in fifth overall.[1]
Post-Hubelino Tournament[]
The Ruby Rollers returned to Hummilon and halted construction on The Nest, returning to their careers at the Aviary Topiary. Coach Ruby tried to contact them about the discontinuation of the Hubelino Tournament and the incoming Marble League Showdown but they were ignored. Ruby decided not to retire the team's assets or branding and began to train a potential reserve member in case they decided to return. The reserve turned out to be former coach Rollin. Despite being fired, Rollin was still passionate about the team and offered alternative skills.
The public heard nothing of the team until 2020 when Coach Ruby organised a press conference to announce the team would be returning for the Herbotamia Reunion. Large crowds attended the event, stranding the team on the road between the Aviary Topiary and The Nest forcing them to roll over a kilometer to the event. The team had started to train together in March and came to appreciate Rollin as they pushed the team to trust each other and take more risks. The large crowds felt like the recognition they had been craving.
The team competed in the Herbotamia Reunion. The tournament was held behind closed doors and those in attendance signed NDAs, so the results are unknown. However, a poll on the Firebird Sports Diary saw fans predict the Ruby Rollers as the winners.
After the tournament, the team stayed together despite not competing in any further tournaments. They restarted construction on The Nest, made Rollo their new captain and decided to adopt pseudonyms: Rolla became Agate, Rollew became Garnet, Rolly became Eudialyte, and Rollin became Carnelian. They sold merchandise, promoted photos from their training and stayed in touch with the other Herbotamia Tournament teams. They also went on a trip to Buzznya, hosted by the Royal Family of Buzznya, the team's first excursion since Marble League 2017.[1]
