Red Number 3 is a solid red marble who looks like a billiard pool ball number 3 (solid red with a white circle and a number 3 on it) that competes in the Marble Rally. Their career started in the 750 foot Marble Race, where they won with an impressive comeback.
After several strong showings in minor off-season rallies, they participated in the qualifiers for Sand Marble Rally 2017. They qualified and they came very close to winning the tournament in their debut season. The next year, Red Number 3 won their first championship, followed by their 2019 triumph to make them the first back-to-back Marble Rally champion. Red Number 3 is known for their incredible speed on the straights, often enabling them to extend their lead by wide margins after breaking away from the pack.
However, Red Number 3 has also garnered controversy for their lightweight, plastic physique, for which critics accuse them of having an unfair genetic advantage. Despite this, Red Number 3 has a great fan following, and remains one of the most popular Marble Rally contestants among the fans.
On August 18, 2020, it was revealed via Twitter that Red Number 3 had received surgery and a new jacket.[1] It is believed (although not confirmed by the JMRC) that the surgery was done to make them glass (as opposed to resin in the past) and thus more equal to their competitors.
History[]
Early career[]
Red Number 3 is from the village of Bifornya[2] in Central America, located outside the city of Numerun. They were inspired to go into marble racing when they were rolling down the Colina Umerun, a centuries old artificial hill in Numerun. Before getting into marble racing, Red Number 3 completed a master's degree is sports medicine at a university in Numerun, alongside Rojo Cinco of the Rojo Rollers. They became friends after meeting in class over their shared interest in the Surculo, a marble racing competition in Numerun.[3]
Red Number 3 in their early career participated in some small rallies. They won the 750 foot Marble Race, coming from the back of the field. Their performance in this race helped them gain fame, and kickstarted their sand rallying career. They decided not to apply for Sand Marble Rally 2016, instead choosing to support the Rojo Rollers in Marble League 2016.[2]
2017[]

Before competing in Sand Marble Rally 2017, Red Number 3 entered into an official partnership with the Rojo Rollers and they started to train together. The Rollers even came out to Doornse Gat to see them compete.[3]
After impressive showings in some of the small off-season rallies, Red Number 3 participated in the qualifiers for Sand Marble Rally 2017. Red Number 3 started out in second-to-last, and it looked like they would be eliminated, but then they bounced off a lot of other marbles and shot out into second, and then instantly jumped into first. Then they lost their lead at the end to Quicksilver, but then gained it back right before the finish line, foreshadowing their rivalry with Quicksilver that would come. By winning the qualifier, Red Number 3 qualified for the tournament.
The first race of the season wasn't the best start to Red Number 3's career. They started from third position, but they finished the race in ninth. In the next race, Red Number 3 started in P8. They had a decent start, but after that they dropped back to the back of the field. After a very strong recovery race, Red Number 3 crossed the finish line in fourth. For the third race Red Number 3 started nineteenth and finished fourteenth, about 12 seconds behind race winner Quicksilver.
Race 4 was held at the same venue as the previous race. Red Number 3, after battling with Lollipop for the lead, won their first ever race. After the race, Red Number 3 was in the championship lead, tied with Black Knight and Lollipop on points (each 41 points), but beating them in the tie-break. Race 5 was again held on the same venue as previous races, but on a different lay-out. Red Number 3 started on the back row and finished only fourteenth. Championship rival Quicksilver won the race and took the championship. Red Number 3 dropped to fourth in the standings.

Red Number 3 fought with Pollo Loco for the race win in Race 6, but they couldn't get past Pollo Loco and finished in a strong second place. Rival Quicksilver finished in a distant, but strong third place. This got Red Number 3 to second in the standings. They went into the summer break with 60 points, 11 points behind leader Quicksilver.
After the summer break, Dragon's Egg emerged as another championship rival after winning Race 7, their first victory in 2017. Red Number 3 had a strong race and finished sixth, while rival Quicksilver finished only in twelfth. Despite finishing in sixth, Red Number 3 dropped a place in the standings. They were third in the standings, 8 points behind championship leader Dragon's Egg. In Race 8, Red Number 3 started on the front row and quickly took the lead of the race. They would stretch that lead quite a bit and won the race in a dominant fashion, 3 seconds ahead of second place. In second place however, was rival Quicksilver, who started on the back row and had a very strong race as well. Red Number 3 climbed to second in the standings, just two points behind new championship leader Quicksilver. Dragon's Egg had a poor race and dropped to third in the standings with 80 points.
Race 9 was Red Number 3's downfall. They didn't have a very good race and were running in around 10th position before getting stuck in a teardrop along with Fantasy. It was Red Number 3's first career DNF. Meanwhile, championship rival Quicksilver finished third after a slow start. Red Number 3 remained in second in the standings, 16 points behind Quicksilver, but just 9 points ahead of Dragon's Egg.
In the next race, Red Number 3 was in the lead early on despite starting on the back row. They were, just like in Race 8, getting away from the others. But then they got stuck at the same teardrop as the previous race. Red Number 3 was able to continue after a bump from Black Knight, but was now somewhere at the back of the field. They were able to finish in eleventh and scored 5 points. Luckily for Red Number 3, Quicksilver gained no points as they finished seventeenth. Even then, Quicksilver remained the leader of the championship. Red Number 3 closed the gap to 11 points, but so did Dragon's Egg, who was trailing them by 6 points.
Red Number 3 started on the front row, but had a very poor start in Race 11. They dropped to 17th, while rival Quicksilver was in the lead of the race. Red Number 3 was able to climb back up to 13th and Quicksilver narrowly lost their lead to Slimer at the end and finished second. The standings for the top three remained unchanged, with Quicksilver widening their margin against Red Number 3 to 25 points. Dragon's Egg stayed third, but Slimer, with 85 points, jumped up to fourth in the standings after their second race win of 2017.
The penultimate race of the season was decisive. It looked like Red Number 3 had lost their hope to win the championship, as Quicksilver was already far ahead in the standings. But with the announcement that double points were on offer in the season finale, they had a chance. Red Number 3 started on the back row, but they were able to finish in an impressive third, their fourth podium finish of the season. Quicksilver finished only fourteenth. Red Number 3 was starting to catch up with Quicksilver, then 13 points ahead of them. Slimer and Dragon's Egg were also not too far behind. But given the double points on offer for the final race, El Capitan, Glassy and Crazy Cat's Eye also had a chance to win the championship.

The final race of the season came on a long course with double points on offer. Championship first and second Quicksilver and Red Number 3 started on the back row and championship's three and four, Slimer and Dragon's Egg, started on the front row. It was a chaotic start, where Red Number 3 gained and lost a lot of places. Very crucially, championship leader Quicksilver got stuck early on with Summer Sky. This meant that the championship was left fully open. Red Number 3 was moving up the field quickly, but other rivals Slimer and Dragon's Egg were both running in the lead. Red Number 3 finished fifth while both Slimer and Dragon's Egg lost the lead and the full 40 points to H2 Blue. Dragon's Egg and Slimer finished second and third, respectively. Despite Red Number 3's best efforts, it was Dragon's Egg who clinched the title. Red Number 3, with 134 points, fell 1 point short. Slimer finished third in the title battle, 4 points behind Red Number 3. Unlucky rival Quicksilver dropped to fourth after they DNF'd, and finished 9 points behind Red Number 3.
2018[]
Before Marble League 2018, the Rojo Rollers revealed their new logo, which replaced their traditional red number 3 ball with a roller skate. This disturbed Red Number 3 as they thought they might be ending their long-standing partnership. The Rollers met in private with Red Number 3 and assured them this was not the case.[4]
After coming very close in 2017, Red Number 3 went into Sand Marble Rally 2018 aiming for the championship. With their second place in 2017, Red Number 3 didn't need to qualify for the Sand Marble Rally 2018. Red Number 3 returned as one of the title contenders.

In Race 1, Red Number 3 DNF'd. They went off the course (off-camera). This was not the start of the season Red Number 3 wished for. Even more embarrassing was the fact that they were the only marble who failed to finish the race. In Race 2, they did better. They started on the front row and finished in sixth. Previous season's rivals Dragon's Egg and Quicksilver finished first and second respectively.
In Race 3, Red Number 3 finished in second behind Marbly McMarbleface. This elevated them into the top 5 of the championship with 28 points, just 2 points behind new leader and rival Quicksilver despite their DNF in Race 1. In Race 4, Red Number 3 finished second for the second time that season. This time they lost to rookie Superball. With 2 silver medals Red Number 3 was the only one to have won 2 medals in 2018 at the time. Red Number 3 moved up to second in the standings, 4 points behind new leader Superball and 9 points ahead of Summer Sky in third.
After two strong races, Red Number 3 suffered a lesser Race 5. They started on the back row (P11) and finished thirteenth. Red Number 3 remained second in the standings, 11 points behind leader Superball and 6 points ahead of race winner Comet who moved up to third. During Race 6, while a lot of marbles were bumping against each other for track position at the start, Red Number 3, who started on the front row, immediately took the lead and started extending it. Red Number 3 had a perfect race winning by almost 5 seconds. It was their first victory of the season after two second-place finishes, and they also improved the record of victory with biggest winning margin. Red Number 3 took the lead of the championship with 74 points, with Superball then trailing them by 11 points.
Red Number 3 finished on the podium for the fourth time in 2018 in race 7.
In Race 7, the penultimate round of the championship, Red Number 3 finished third after starting on the front row after again a strong performance. Red Number 3 did lose points to rivals Superball and Black Knight, but they were still in the lead for the standings with 89 points, whereas Superball was 8 points behind them and Black Knight jumped to third with 14 points behind. Going into the final race of the season, only these three had a chance to win the championship.

In the final race, Red Number 3 started on the back row with Superball and Black Knight. Red Number 3 put in another great performance to finish off the season and crossed the finish line in second, behind Phoenix. Superball finished only eighteenth and Black Knight DNF'd. Red Number 3, with a total of 107 points, was crowned the Sand Marble Rally 2018 champion. Superball lost their second place in the standings to Phoenix, while Black Knight slipped off the podium.
After their Sand Marble Rally 2018 title, fans started accusing Red Number 3 of cheating, and they would get a lot of criticism for "doping". Worse, there were allegations that they "[were] not a marble".[5] In December 2018, it was revealed that Red Number 3 was not in fact a glass marble, but rather made of resin and coming from a keychain, confirming fans' suspicions. This led to the Rojo Rollers cutting ties with Red Number 3 to make sure their team's reputation was not tarnished. Red Number 3 understood why they did this and understood why some of their fans were upset. They didn't want to disappoint anyone and felt the most disappointed in themselves.[3] Despite the controversy, it was announced that Red Number 3 would continue to race in Marble Rallies.[6]
2019[]
As the reigning Marble Rally champion, Red Number 3 prequalified for the Marble Rally 2019 and they participated in the practice race alongside the other prequalified marbles. Red Number 3 had a good start, but got pushed off track by Summer Sky. They were able to continue anyway and recovered and at one point was in third place, but they finally finished sixth out of eight.

Race 1 of Marble Rally 2019 was a difficult one for many competitors, as only 13 of 20 marbles made it to the finish line. Red Number 3 was able to overcome a tricky start to finish fifth in the first race of the season. The second race took place on the same course, and Red Number 3 was able to cruise to their first race win of 2019. Red Number 3 also became the championship leader after the race. Red Number 3 had a lesser performance in the third race as they ran towards the back for most of the race before they went off the course at a junction, resulting in a DNF. After starting toward the back of the pack, they made a strong comeback in Race 4 finishing 6th. At the halfway point of Marble Rally 2019, Red Number 3 sat fourth in the standings, just two points behind a three-way tie for the championship lead.
After a lengthy break at mid-season, Red Number 3 produced arguably the most dominant race in Marble Rally history in Race 5. Starting on the front row, Red Number 3 won the race having led from the start. Their winning margin of 8.07 seconds over Cool Moody is the largest winning margin in Marble Rally history, over 3 seconds wider than the next best score (also a Red Number 3 record). This Race 5 win was Red Number 3's fifth career victory, making them the marble with the most all-time race wins in Marble Rally history, breaking a tie with Slimer and El Capitan.
In the next two races, they got a 5th and a 6th place finish, which was well enough for them to stay at the top of the standings, with an 8-point lead over Ghost Plasma and an 18-point lead over Superball.

In the final race, Red Number 3 started poorly. Meanwhile, Superball was charging out in front. However, Red Number 3 decided to play it safe and chose not to make any risky moves. As they quietly passed others, Red Number 3 eventually finished 8th, but their main competitors for the title, Ghost Plasma and Superball, failed to catch up with them. This makes Red Number 3 the first marble to win the Marble Rally in two consecutive years, and one of the few marbles to win more than one race in a single season.
After Red Number 3's win, the Rojo Rollers reached out to them congratulating them and they started to rebuild their relationship after the falling out the previous year. Red helped find the team a manager, Rojo Macho, and offered tips to Rojo Uno and Rojo Dos to help them prepare for Marbula One Season 1. Red also worked with the team on a general basis to help them improve morale.[7]
2020[]
Before the start of the season, Red Number 3 underwent surgery to clear up all controversy surrounding them.[1] In addition, given their performance in the past, Red Number 3 was invited to compete in Marble Rally Season 5 as defending champion after the cancellation of the Qualifiers.[2]
Red Number 3, the reigning two-time champion, started off their 2020 poorly. Red Number 3 achieved two tenth place finishes in the two opening rounds before finishing in a non-scoring eighteenth place in the third race. Another disappointing finish (thirteenth in Race 4) followed. Red Number 3 (15pts) was sixteenth in the championship after the opening rounds, 38 points behind championship leader Cool Moody (53pts).

Red Number 3 had a good race in the fifth round of the season, battling it out for the win and ultimately finishing second after losing the lead at the end. An eleventh place finish followed in the next race and Red Number 3 (37 pts) headed into the winter break sitting in ninth place, 32 points behind championship leader Ghost Plasma (69 pts). However, at the end of the season, Red Number 3 finished in seventh overall, their worst result so far. This the first time they had finished outside of the top three
2023[]
After finishing 7th the previous year, Red Number 3 qualified easily, finishing 2nd in the Qualifiers. However, they were unable to replicate their qualifying form, finishing Marble Rally Season 6 with no podiums and 3 DNFs, with a best finish of 6th, in last place overall.
Racing analysis and profile[]
Red Number 3 is arguably the best racer concerning both current and all-time debates. Their extraordinary straight-line speed, combined with great prowess in both slalom and normal corners, allows them to take control of a race very easily. They hold 4 of the Marble Rally's largest winning margin records, consistently taking victory while achieving comfortable 5-second leads at least once in many races. Not only do they have front row dominance, but their ability to clutch from the back row is also unprecedented, grabbing podium finishes and even wins despite tight field congestion. One example of their trademark surge can be found in their Race 8 performance in Sand Marble Rally 2018, where they almost closed a 5-second gap chasing rookie Phoenix. As they developed into a more complete racer, their consistency also became a shining factor of their success, only falling out of the top 6 twice in 2019. Apart from being a clutch performer race-wise, Red Number 3 has also never fallen out of the top 3 in the last three races of every season they have competed in, and often puts themselves in a position where only a select few can have an outside chance at a title, let alone a true contention for the championship. This mixture of both championship and race clutch performances results in great point differentials in the table standings, leading by as much as 22 points in 2018 and 14 points in 2019.
A mere 30 seconds into Race 6 of the 2018 season, Red Number 3 has already developed a great lead. They would win by a 5 second winning margin, the largest at the time - only to eclipse their previous record the year after with an 8 second victory.
Despite their greatness, Red Number 3 is not without their flaws. While consistency issues in the past seem to be relatively fixed now, they still struggle with other problems. One of their weaknesses is their cornering skill, one example being their inability to take the fast lanes on unrimmed curves/splits. Due to both build and presumably habit, Red Number 3 often jumps the curve (or simply takes the slower route, if referring to split lanes) and takes the slalom, which results in varying situations. Some result in position jumps, as the slalom course may be shorter than the straights, while other scenarios involve losing time to more crafty competitors, such as Blizzard Blaster and Ghost Plasma, due to their ability at taking the faster lane. Other flaws include crashing out or taking to the air due to their overwhelming speed and risk-taking, usually during teardrops or splits (see Race 9 of the 2017 championship, Race 1 of the 2018 championship for reference), or being easy to push around because of their light weight. Regardless, Red Number 3's proficiencies more than make up for their cons, often prevailing either in spite or because of these shortcomings.
Overall, Red Number 3 is a remarkable competitor, able to harness their skills and unique physique to the absolute max while remaining proficient in their weakest areas. Their unthinkable agility, acceleration and overall top speed are feats never seen before in the history of Jelle's Marble Runs, and will likely only get even better as their prime progresses.

- Red Number 3 won the 750 foot Marble Race in both English and French commentary, despite them being different races.
- Red Number 3 is the only marble whose lead was so big that they went off the screen and forced Jelle to write a sign saying that they had disappeared, and that happened to them twice in 2017 (Race 8 and 10). In 2018 (Race 6) they also had a very big lead, but Jelle didn't write a sign saying they had disappeared due to the addition of the position graphic. In 2019 Red Number 3 disappeared off the screen and also took a Marble Rally record winning by a margin of 8.07s (Race 5).
- Red Number 3 also holds the four largest margins of victory in the Marble Rally.
- Red Number 3 currently holds the record for the best rookie performance, finishing 2nd in the standings with four podium finishes, including two race wins.
- Red Number 3 has a rivalry with Quicksilver, which started in Sand Marble Rally 2017, where they ran 1st and 2nd most of the season.
- Red Number 3 also has a rivalry with Superball for them running in 1st and 2nd (not always respectively) throughout most of 2018.
- Red Number 3 was the first marble in the Marble Rally to win two championships.
- Red Number 3 was also the first marble in all JMR series to win two consecutive overall championships.
- Red Number 3 was a hidden marble in two Marble League events: the 2018 Halfpipe, and the 2019 Summer Biathlon.
