The Marble Rally Showdown, formerly Sand Marble Rally B-League, is a competition for the unqualified competitors from the Marble Rally. It was originally meant to be hosted yearly, starting in 2018. However, it was discontinued in Season 5 due to the adaptation of an invitational format.
It was brought back in Season 6 along with Qualifiers.
History[]
The Marble Rally Showdown started back in 2018 as the Sand Marble Rally B-League. It served as a way for the unqualified racers to still compete. The top 2 of the standings after 4 races would qualify for the A-league, whilst 3rd through 9th would compete in the qualifiers as normal. The bottom two (10th and 11th) would participate in the wildcard race.
In 2019, this system was adapted upon, with the top 4 being promoted to the A-league directly. 3rd through 8th would enter a race-off with 13th-16th from the previous year's race-off for a chance to qualify. The bottom 4 would stay in the showdown. This system would never end up utilized, however, as in 2020, the series would adopt an invitational system and featured no showdown.
In 2023, the Marble Rally returned in the form of Season 6, which reintroduced the showdown and a qualifier format. How the results of this showdown affect qualification for Season 7 are currently unclear.
