The third race of Marble Rally Season 5 was held on 29th September 2020 at Dopersduin Bregtdorp. 20 marbles participated in the race.

Race

Report

The race started on the sloppy track with Cool Moody not having a good start from the pole. Ghost Plasma bolted right to the front with Ducktape and Pollo Loco. At the rotating chevron, Dragon's Egg took the lead from Ghost Plasma as Pollo Loco was affected by the obstacle and was passed by Quicksilver, Crazy Cat's Eye, and Black Knight. From there Dragon's Egg would battle with Quicksilver in the slaloms. An obstruction not showed in the video (but mentioned by Greg Woods) was cleared by the Ghost Marble in this segment, though it did slow Red Number 3, Nemo, Cobra, and Blazing Fireball drastically. The shuffleboard made it's debut and Dragon's Egg made it through with ease, however a bunch of marbles got caught up on this obstacle. Summer Sky was able to take advantage of this and sneak into third place. Marbly McMarbleface who was near the back of the pack got stuck and ended up DNF'ing for the second straight race (the only marble to DNF this race). At the branch, Dragon's Egg took a shortcut and was able to extend their lead over Quicksilver, who ended up taking the long way. Summer Sky and Ghost Plasma also took the shortcut, but El Capitan who was 5th at the time took the long way and fell out of the top 5 being passed by Cool Moody and Pollo Loco. El Capitan would then work its way around to get back into fourth place at the halfway point. At the halfway point it was Dragon's Egg, Quicksilver, Summer Sky, El Capitan, and Ghost Plasma in the top 5 while Cool Moody, Blizzard Blaster, Pollo Loco, Crazy Cat's Eye, and Ducktape rounded out the top 10. From there, Dragon's Egg would never look back and start to pull away from the other marbles. Dragon's Egg would win by 2.39 seconds, but the highlight of the race was what came after in the race for 2nd. Ghost Plasma hit a dry patch and suddenly stopped just before the finish line, allowing Quicksilver to sneak past for silver. Fortunately for Ghost Plasma, Cool Moody as well as the others gave them a bump draft and allowed it to cross the line for their second straight bronze. Cool Moody and Crazy Cat's Eye would round out the top 5. After that came Pollo Loco, Summer Sky, El Capitan, Superball, and Blizzard Blaster in 10th. Ducktape, Lollipop, Slimer, Black Knight, and Comet would all come after them, then a long gap back to Nemo, Cobra, Red Number 3, and Blazing Fireball.
