The second race of the 2019 Marble Rally was held at Doornse Gat on 27 September 2019. 20 marbles participated in the race.

Report

At the start Red Number 3 slotted into the lead initially before being passed by Phoenix and Marbly McMarbleface. Soon after the opening straight, there was a split where seventeen of the marbles took the higher line with Ghost Plasma, Black Knight and Quicksilver the only ones to opt for the bottom. As the field bounced into the split, Red Number 3 was able to gain sufficient momentum to take the lead back, with Phoenix dropping to third, Ghost Plasma in fourth (on the lower line) and Dragon's Egg in fifth. Marbly McMarbleface danced back and forth, momentarily taking the lead from the reigning champion; only to immediately crash into the wall of sand separating the two lanes and retiring from the race as a result.

Red Number 3, Phoenix, Ghost Plasma and Dragon's Egg were still running in unchanged order and as a result of the crash Slimer moved up into the top five behind them. Black Knight was in sixth place ahead of rookie Cool Moody. On the exit of a set of esses Ghost Plasma fell down to seventh place. Black Knight moved up into fourth and Cool Moody advanced into sixth. By this point, Red Number 3 had already pulled out a significant lead over Phoenix and disappeared from the screen. Ghost Plasma continued to struggle as Silver Bolt attacked and passed them. Then there was a wall which most of the marbles jumped over.

However, Ghost Plasma and Cobra (both running in the lower top ten position) opted not to jump over and benefited from this decision heavily, advancing to second and third place respectively after their route turned out to be way quicker. In the meantime, Phoenix fell down to sixth behind Dragon's Egg and Black Knight, with Black Knight also passing Dragon's Egg to move into fourth. Pollo Loco and Quicksilver moved up to seventh and eighth at some point before this while Cool Moody and Slimer faded into ninth and tenth and Silver Bolt fell outside the top ten.

Heading into another set of esses, Black Knight advanced into second with a great burst of speed. Ghost Plasma nearly rolled to a stop in the middle of the course, but fortunately was able to get going and only lost one position to Cobra. Dragon's Egg was more unfortunate as they very rapidly faded through the field. Pollo Loco moved up into fifth with lots of other marbles close behind them. At some point before that, Red Number 3 re-appeared on the screen after coming slowly off one of the turns and now Black Knight was managing to gain time on the reigning champion. Superball had apparently made a lot of moves off-camera since they now were able to attack and pass Pollo Loco for fifth place. Similarly appearing out of nowhere, Silver Bolt moved up into seventh once again ahead of Slimer in eighth. Ghost Plasma was drafting Cobra all over the course in a bid to get back onto the podium as the race neared its conclusion.

Red Number 3 was eventually able to build up a safe lead once more and was not challenged again. Ghost Plasma dropped away from Cobra and in turn had to do some severe blocking themselves to keep Superball behind. Red Number 3 eventually came home nearly three seconds ahead of Black Knight and Cobra. Ghost Plasma did hold off Superball to the finish as they rounded out the top five. Pollo Loco finished sixth, Silver Bolt seventh, El Capitan eighth, Quicksilver ninth and Slimer faded to tenth in the final stretch. Early leader Phoenix finished in eleventh, ahead of Blizzard Blaster in twelfth, Reflektor in thirteenth and Comet in fourteenth. Being right up there with the leaders at one point, Cool Moody faded to take their first ever point in fifteenth. Championship leader Crazy Cat's Eye was sixteenth and Dragon's Egg faded all the way from third to seventeenth, only finishing ahead of H2 Blue and Summer Sky. Marbly McMarbleface was the only DNF.
