The first event of Marble ManiaX was held on the 20th December 2021, featuring the first event, Extreme Diving.

Event[]

In Extreme Diving, each team descends down a ramp before diving off the edge of a 550 cm tower, before landing in a circular pool. Situated at the bottom of the pool is a large target board, with 10 concentric regions numbered from 1 (outermost ring) to 10 (bullseye). Marbles score points correspondant to the numbering of the region they land in; completely missing the target board nets 0 points. Each team is given 2 heats, and a team's final score is equivalent to the sum of their scores from both heats. The team with the highest collective score wins. If teams are tied, then the tie is broken by single-marble countback (most 10-point scores, most 9-point scores, etc.).

Trivia[]

  • After Dive 8 of 16, the first ever halftime show on Jelle's Marble Runs took place. The show featured Dutch DJ duo Lucas and Steve performing their new track Alien, created alongside ILIRA and Galantis.
    • Less than a day after the video was uploaded, a copyright claim on the music used during the halftime show forced the video to be taken offline. The video was re-uploaded a week later, on the 28th December, with the halftime show soundtrack replaced with Ride with Me by Norwegian music artist Martin Tungevaag.
  • A production error occurred during editing, as the official scoring system was not clarified in advance, nor was it shown in the video. It was later confirmed by a member of the JMA[1].
    • With the tie between the Black Jacks and the Purple Rockets declared unbroken, the two teams received 7 points each, equivalent to the average of 6 points (bronze) and 8 points (silver), following the official scoring system.
