Glassy is a dark green, transparent marble who competed in the Sand Marble Rally. Glassy participated in Sand Marble Rally 2016 and 2017, after which they retired. The reason for their retirement was possibly because they looked a lot like fellow Sand Marble Rally competitor Slimer. Throughout their career they only DNFd once.

History

2016

Glassy was the last of the 17 finishers of the qualifying race. This was an unscored race which determined the marbles on the front row for Race 1 of Sand Marble Rally 2016. Glassy also finished 17th in that race. Their season was consistent and they scored in every race but two, but their best finish was fifth. They finished the season 17th.

2017

Glassy qualified for Sand Marble Rally 2017, and started the season with 6 finishes between 10th and 14th place. However, after that, they got a podium in Race 6, lots of top 9 finishes and 2nd in Race 10, their highest position ever. However, a good start to the final (in which they could take the championship if lucky) ended in many position losses and 15th place, which dropped them from 6th to 7th overall. After the season, it was confirmed that Glassy would retire. Glassy was confirmed to be replaced by Grasshopper for 2018 and onwards.

Racer analysis and profile

Glassy was mostly a mid-field contender whose most important strength was the ability to be consistent from race to race and avoid DNFs, thus bringing home some points in nearly every race they started. This trait was best shown by them in 2017, when they were one of only three marbles to complete every race that season (others were Dragon's Egg and Black Knight) and furthermore the only one of these three to finish each event within points-paying positions. On their better days, Glassy was easily able to compete for wins at the front, with their best career race being the Race 10 of 2017 where they finished runner-up to Wisp of Darkness. Glassy's biggest flaw as a racer was seemingly their lack of endurance, which affected their performance in some of the longer races. An example of it was in their last career race, where they briefly burst into the lead early only to gradually drop down through nearly the entire field and finish 15th.
