The Ghost Marble (not to be confused with Ghost Plasma) is a frosted glass marble that started as the countdown marble in Marble Rally. In Sand Marble Rally 2018 they broke out of the countdown area and raced down the course. The countdown area was then changed so they could always escape shortly after the main competitors so they could collide with any stuck marbles and get them rolling again.
They have also made a cameo as a hidden marble in Marble League 2018 and 2019.
History[]
The Ghost Marble made their first appearance in Race 1 of Sand Marble Rally 2017. They rolled down a straight path before releasing the gate. They then rolled down their own sand track before joining the rest of the racers near the back to help dislodge any stuck marbles. In Race 3 the sand track was replaced with a shorter wooden track with nail obstacles. This was also the first race in which they finished the race, finishing in 11th. They appeared in every race in the season except for the Final Race where they were replaced with a ball bearing who did not race on the track.
The Ghost Marble returned in Sand Marble Rally 2018 in a new countdown tower. However, they were not allowed out onto the track to dislodge racers. This did not deter them and they managed to break out and join the race in Race 4. They were missing from Race 6 and so the starting gate was released in an alternate way. They also released the starting gate in the Sand Marble Rally 2018 B-League and again managed to escape onto the track in Race 2. 2018 also saw the Ghost Marble make a guest appearance as the hidden marble in Marble League 2018, appearing in Team Pursuit.
Marble Rally 2019 saw the return of the Ghost Marble in the starting gate tower. This year the Ghost Marble was again allowed to race, with the nail obstacle track from 2017 returning. Unlike previous years they released the starting gate in the Qualifiers as well as the main season. Occasionally this season the Ghost Marble would roll into the track and avoid the nail obstacles. In Race 3 and Race 4 the nail obstacle was removed and replaced with a sand path before it returned in Race 5. The Ghost Marble again released the starting gate in the Marble Rally 2019 Showdown. They got stuck just before the nail obstacle in Race 3 and didn't make it onto the course. The nail obstacle was then removed and replaced with the sand track for Race 4. 2019 saw the Ghost Marble make another guest appearance as the hidden marble in Marble League 2019, appearing in the Sand Rally.
The Ghost Marble started off 2020 by releasing the gate for the Animal Marble Race. Marble Rally Season 5 saw the removal of the nail obstacle with the sand course taking its place in Race 1 and Race 2 before it returned in Race 3. Race 4 again saw the Ghost Marble skip the nail obstacle and roll straight onto the course after some issues with the starting gate mechanism. By midseason, the Ghost Marble would have earned 10 points which was 5 more than Blazing Fireball had earned that season.
The Ghost Marble took part in the one-off Patreon Marble Rally. They managed to come in third, their first time in a podium position. Despite not officially competing, they were allowed to stand on the podium alongside the actual third place finisher.
