Dragon's Egg is a greenish marble with a little bit of white and orange who competes in the Marble Rally. Dragon's Egg competed in Sand Marble Rally 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and Season 5. Dragon's Egg was the 2017 Sand Marble Rally Champion, and was the first marble in Marble Rally history to reach 500 career points.

History

Pre-Marble Rally

Dragon's Egg originally came from Longdan. They are a historian who found a passion for marble sports while competing in and winning the individual division of the Ramen Bowl, held thousands of miles south of Longdan.

2016

In Sand Marble Rally 2016, Dragon's Egg was fighting for the championship and was only 2 points behind championship leader Ghost Plasma after 6 races. They finally ended 3rd in the championship, as Big Pearl took second place from Dragon's Egg by 2 points, while Ghost Plasma became the 2016 Sand Marble Rally Champion.

2017

Sand Marble Rally 2017 was marked by the rivalry between Quicksilver and Red Number 3 as they were leading the championship. Dragon's Egg, however, was also very strong throughout the season. They won Race 7 and always finished somewhere at the front of the pack. With the announcement that double points were on offer for the final race, both Dragon's Egg and Slimer suddenly had a chance of winning the championship. With championship leader Quicksilver getting stuck in the beginning and crashing out, it looked like Red Number 3 would take the championship, Dragon's Egg, however, finished a strong 2nd place, which earned them 34 points. This was enough to clinch the championship by one point over Red Number 3. Interestingly Dragon's Egg was the only marble from the top 4 to only win one race, as Red Number 3, Slimer and Quicksilver each won twice. Dragon's Egg was also one of only three marbles to not record any DNFs throughout 2017, the other two being Glassy and Black Knight.

2018

Dragon's Egg was the reigning champion in Sand Marble Rally 2018 and wanted to defend their title. But in 2018, Dragon's Egg had a very inconsistent start; they finished 16th in the first race, then won Race 2, to then finish 19th (and last) in Race 3. Dragon's Egg wasn't in good shape. In the final 5 races Dragon's Egg could never end higher than 8th. They, however, finished 7th in the championship overall, tied for points with Crazy Cat's Eye, but beating them with one race win. Apart from their victory in the second race, this was quite a mediocre season for Dragon's Egg.

2019

Dragon's Egg placed third in their qualifiers race. Although they got stuck, they got going again and caught up to the others quickly, and qualified for the Marble Rally 2019.

Dragon's Egg had a poor start to the season. They earned their first DNF in the first race, where they suddenly stopped due to "fatigue", and finished the next race with no points. But then, they recovered nicely and finished in the top five in next four races, including their fourth career race win in Race 6, and climbed up to 4th in the standings. However, Dragon's Egg failed to score any points in the next two races and dropped to ninth. This is Dragon's Egg's worst Marble Rally season yet.

2020

Dragon's Egg was invited to compete in Marble Rally Season 5.

Dragon's Egg season was inconsistent, once again they started poorly as they in Race 1 but however they would recover with two consecutive top 5 finishes including a 5th career win in Race 3 they climbed all the way to 4th. However they score points only one other time in the first half and that was Race 5 where they made a great comeback to finish in 6th after starting bad. But in Race 6 Dragon's Egg race was opposite as the last race, they actually battled for the lead for a while but after going the slow lane in a split midway through the race slumping them to 19th and Dragon's Egg was 8th heading into the winter break. Things didn't get much better as they were just as bad in the next two races putting them in 12th but they improved in the final four races except one including Race 9 saw Dragon's Egg finally break their streak of one race win per season as they barely edged out Red Number 3, however Dragon's Egg would finish 9th once again.

Racer analysis and profile

Dragon's Egg is a remarkable competitor with a very efficient racing style. Their style contains a little bit of everything, combining Ghost Plasma's intelligent tactical games, Red Number 3's pure superior speed, Quicksilver's natural smoothness and Glassy's consistency. Consistency in particular seems to be Dragon's Egg's most major virtue and the key to their success over their years of competition. They did not DNF in a race in their first three seasons and in the process set a very impressive record for most consecutive finishes in SMR history. They are also consistent in terms of achieving constant success in competition. They are the only marble to have won a race in all five seasons between 2016 and 2020. Another great ability of theirs is their sizable knowledge about their own limits and physical boundaries. As a result, they rarely over-push themselves and are able to balance their energy evenly throughout a race (a rare exception being the 2019 opener where they wore themselves out early and stopped due to fatigue). Sometimes they would lag behind the leading pack and attack for the win towards the end. At other times, they would hold back and just silently finish in mid-pack without much grief, particularly if it could benefit them later. The best example being the final three-race stretch of 2017, where they resigned themselves to 17th place in the eleventh race and subsequently used their saved strength to place in the top four in the two remaining races and clinch the championship. Overall, Dragon's Egg is a very skilled competitor and an all-time great in the Marble Rally. Though Red Number 3 is usually referenced as the best marble of all time due to highest number of championships and wins, Dragon's Egg holds the record for most career points and is still the only marble ever to beat Red Number 3 over a full season (though they were directly aided by double points).

• Dragon's Egg is the only marble to have won a race in each of the five Sand Marble Rally seasons that were run so far (actually winning exactly one in each).
• Dragon's Egg holds the record for most consecutive race finishes in the Sand Marble Rally with 33 consecutive finishes (between race 1 (2016) and race 8 (2018)).
• Dragon's Egg was one of only five marbles to participate in all Sand Marble Rally races, along with Comet, Ghost Plasma, Slimer and Summer Sky.
