Diving is an event featured in the Marble League. Four marbles from each team roll down a slope onto a diving board before diving into a pool of water, aiming for a target.

Rules[]

2016[]

Marble League 2016[]

The inaugural Diving rendition, known as Quartet Diving, premiered in the 2016 Marble League. Each team descends down a short track before landing on four diving boards. The marbles dive off the board into a pool with a colored floor, each color representing different points. The team earns points based on the color of the tile when they first enter the water and for which tile they end up on.

Each team also earns points based on the quality of the jump. The quality of jump points are between zero and one and are there to break any ties that may arise. The total of the quality of the jump and the entry and finishing positions gives each team their total score. Deductions are also awarded for clipping the edge of the pool, missing the pool or jumping out after a dive. If two or more marbles miss the pool, the team is disqualified.

After all earned points and penalties are summed, the team with the highest collective score wins.

2021[]

Marble League 2021 and Marble League Showdown 2021[]

With the return of Diving in 2021, the rules were reworked to reduce confusion and ambiguity, most notably concerning point deductions. Each team descends down a short track before landing on four trampolines. The marbles dive off the board into a pool with a four targets, each color representing different points. The team earns points based on the color of the sections of targets that they hit - 1 point for the outermost white area, then 2 points for the slightly smaller blue ring, 3 points for the smallest yellow ring, and finally 5 points for bullseyes. Marbles do not have to land on the specific target in front of them to score points; any landing within the scoring region is valid.

To prevent ties, teams also lose points for being out of sync, losing points equivalent to 10 times the delta between the first marble making contact with the water and the last marble making contact with the water. The team with the highest collective score wins.

Marble ManiaX[]

Marble ManiaX's premiering event was a scaled-up version of the Marble League 2021 rendition of Diving, known as Extreme Diving. In this remake, each team descends down a ramp before diving off the edge of a 550 cm tower, before landing in a circular pool. Situated at the bottom of the pool is a large target board, with 10 concentric regions numbered from 1 (outermost ring) to 10 (bullseye). Marbles score points correspondent to the numbering of the region they land in; completely missing the target board nets 0 points. Each team is given 2 heats, and a team's final score is equivalent to the sum of their scores from both heats. The team with the highest collective score wins.

If teams are tied, the team with more 10-point scores wins, then the team with the most 9-point scores, followed by the team with the most 8-point scores, and so on until the tie is broken; teams with identical point distributions are considered deadlocked, and their ties are deemed unbroken. Unlike the preceding versions of Diving, there are no penalty points.
