Balancing

Balancing is an event featured in the Marble League that has been held in numerous years. The goal of the event is to stay on a thin bar as long as possible and aim to reach the end. The spot where the athlete falls off is counted as their score (in centimeters).

Rules[]

Four marbles from a team are released from the starting gate in a single file line. The marbles must go as far as they can on a 5 cm thick balance beam, attempting to reach the end of the beam if possible (130 cm). The marbles are scored depending on where they drop off, and the team with the highest combined total length wins.

A variant from the Hubelino Tournament, called the Catwalk, has a similar premise. The balance beam is split into different point sections, each marble earning the number of points of the section they land in. The further you travel, the more points you earn. The team's score is the sum of all the individual members' scores.

Marble League 2016[]

Balancing was the first Marble League event ever, and started right after the Opening Ceremony. The Rojo Rollers claimed gold and set a new Marble League record of 347, while Mellow Yellow and Team Momo got second and third. The balance beam was 150 cm, 20 cm longer than its current length.

Hubelino Tournament 2016[]

The Catwalk was the second event of the Hubelino Tournament 2016. The Golden Wisps claimed gold, while the Ruby Rollers and the Black Jacks got second and third respectively.

The Catwalk was the second event of the Hubelino Tournament 2018. The Minty Maniacs claimed gold, while the Bluefastics and the Ruby Rollers got second and third respectively.

2019[]

Marble League 2019[]

Balancing was the third event of Marble League 2019. It was overhauled and redesigned from the 2016 edition, but there were no rule changes. The Marble League record was broken three separate times during this event.

The first occasion was by the Crazy Cat's Eyes, who scored 351 cm, 4 cm higher than the previous record set by the Rojo Rollers. Next, the Thunderbolts beat the Crazy Cat's Eyes score, with a total of 408 cm. Finally, the Hazers scored a shocking 438 cm, crushing the previous two records, and winning the event with gold. The Thunderbolts and Crazy Cat's Eyes did end up claiming silver and bronze, however.

Marble League Showdown 2019[]

Balancing made its third appearance during Marble League Showdown 2019 as the final event and the deciding factor on who would be advancing to the Marble League 2020 Qualifiers. Team Primary ended up taking gold, while the Snowballs took silver and the Hornets took bronze.

2020[]

Last Marble Standing[]

Balancing was the second event of Last Marble Standing. It had the same format as the event in Marble League 2019 except there were two heats. The sum of the result from each heat gave the team their final result. The Semi-Skimmers won the gold medal with Dairy Dash taking silver and Milky Madness earning bronze.

Marble League 2020 Qualifiers[]

Balancing was the opening event of the Marble League 2020 Qualifiers. The Crazy Cat's Eyes came first, followed by the Bumblebees 1 cm behind in second, with 3rd place going to the Savage Speeders.

Balancing was the third event of the Marble League 2020 Friendly Round. The Hazers came first, followed by the Raspberry Racers in second, with 3rd place going to the Green Ducks.

Balancing was the opening event of Marble League 2020. It had the same format as Marble League 2019. Gold went to the Minty Maniacs, silver went the Raspberry Racers, and bronze went to the Midnight Wisps.
